God is at My Lake Today

God’s at my lake today!
My lake is one of those lakes that
Are high in the mountains – you
Know, the kind that are dark and clear and
Are surrounded by verdant green
Peaks and blue sky and sun and clouds
And a cool breeze.
It’s a deep
Lake, calm with a few waves
With plenty of space to canoe or
To sailboat around.
Let’s sail around – it’s so easy
That you can steer with your feet!
Look at that – so much
Freedom and vastness, enveloped in
Blueness and breezes
Like in the very beginning, in creation
When the spirit of God hovered
Over the face of the waters,
Over the face of the deep waters.
Where is God? God is blowing
Over the water, and flowing
Under the water.
Are you ready?
Do you think you can handle it?
Whew, it’s cold!
But not too cold – it wakes
Me up! I feel
Alive!
Oh no, we are going deeper, it’s getting
Darker, I can hardly see.
Was that a shark? Oh well, they don’t
Eat people (most of the time).
Oh look – as it gets darker,
I see lights – how can that be?
It’s those fish at the bottom
Of the ocean, the kind that light
Up, and are so beautiful, you would never
See them unless you were looking
