My favorite quote(s)...
Monastic vows rest on the false assumption that there is a special calling, a vocation, to which superior Christians are invited to observe the counsels of perfection while ordinary Christians fulfill only the commands; but there simply is no special religious vocation since the call of God comes to each at the common tasks

If I could live anywhere... (why?)
Wow. I could live so many places. BUT-if I could live anywhere---it would be where it is warm, a lot. I have been miscast as someone who lives in the snow---all of my life!
Others describe me as...
Energetic, passionate, really into pop culture and the 80's, Lutheran, Minnesotan.
I most feel the presence of God when...
My dog is terribly excited to go on the same walk every day of his life. It is as if creation is reborn over, and over and over--and he is so excited. Everyday for him is like a walk in the brand new Garden of Eden.
I'm passionate about...
A lot. Family, friends, cooking, reclaiming 'religion' from those who brand it as limiting, stifiling, non-life giving.

Kristen, living out who I am. Always talking, always thinking, always figuring out how to best live into the gifts I have in service to the community around me.
Because of my faith, I...
Talk about religion and religious and spiritual life with different people every day. Some of my best friends are non-Christians---who know a lot about the Lutheran theological perspective--because we talk and share and engae with each other on a daily basis.

The story of Christ's birth is a story of promise, hope, and a revolutionary love. So, what happened? What was once a time to celebrate the birth of a savior has somehow turned into a season of stress, traffic jams, and shopping lists. And when it…
